Management of the carbon footprint is already a reality for Viña Quintay. This is a step that is inevitable in any company today, especially if it is related to the world of agriculture. Viña Quintay is not remaining behind and is joining this global initiative for caring for our planet by carrying out its first footprint measurement for the year 2011, and is now developing a program to minimize it in all its processes.


We proudly present the first two Sustainability Reports of VIÑA QUINTAY S.A. whereby we are able to communicate our progress in this area and provide you with information on our company’s economic-financial, environmental and social performance in the years 2009, 2010 and 2011, thus reaffirming our commitment to social responsibility.


Our Oenological Philosophy starts in the vineyards, natural vineyards which have the least intervention possible.
 We require our vineyards to develop in a balanced ecosystem, so we use “Cultural Practices” which help us to achieve this objective, for example:

- Maintain vines free of weeds which avoids the reproduction of diseases
- Maintain vines with a low density of foliage in order to reduce humidity and fungus
- All the harvest waste is transformed into compost for fertilizing the vineyards
- All the water used in the harvest is recycled and reused for irrigation of the vineyards
- The south-facing walls of the winery are made of transparent material which uses less artificial energy


The most common definition of sustainability is that of the Brundtland Commission of the United Nations (1987). This states that it is the “ability to satisfy the demands of the present generation without sacrificing the ability of future generations to meet their own needs”.
Being sustainable is therefore a form of thinking and acting that implies using the bounty of nature while respecting its limits. With this idea in mind, environmental commitment is an essential part of the management of Viña Quintay.
